This is the “Tiffany” alloy and as such has a long track record as a reliable casting material with good hardness and working characteristics.
- Hardness: 135 Vickers
- Tensile Strength: 66,000 psi
- Ductility: Good
- Filigree Casting: Fair
- Magnetic: No
- Hallmarking: Platinum, Pt, Plat, or Pt 950
Platinum 90% Iridium 10%
This is a great all-around alloy that will not oxidize and has been widely used for years as both in casting and fabrication.
- Hardness: 110 Vickers
- Tensile Strength: 55,000 psi
- Ductility: Excellent
- Filigree Casting: Good
